Thanks for visiting!

My name is Theresa Torres Mata, I was born in Roswell, New Mexico to Johnny and Teresita (Torres) Mata, in 1953. I started my research about thirty years ago.
At first I thought I only needed to know about my grandparents, but as the years passed it turned out that I have gone back to the early 1600's.
I have done more research on my mother's side, mainly because of easier access to church records and being around the family.
My mother, uncles, aunts, and many family members and friends gave me a lot of information and stories about the family.
My father was not a Catholic so there weren't church records to research. I keep finding information and have many stories to share.
I decided to share as much as I can to leave a gift for our family to treasure for ever.
Be sure and look at the family trees. I have entered over 2000 individuals, over 500 marriages, and the earlist birth was 1665 of Jacinto de Inigo Lopez Sanchez.
Charlie Bowdre and "Doc" Josiah Scurlock married two of Fernando Herrera's daughters. They rode with The Regulators in the Lincoln County War along with Billy the Kid. Fernando was known as an expert marksman. Another daughter of Fernando Herrera was my great-great-grandmother Maria Alta Gracia. She was married to William "Billy" Gill, who discovered the first gold mine in Nogal, Lincoln County, New Mexico.

My childhood memories of Glencoe in Lincoln County, New Mexico, were so enjoyable. I remember the loud noise of the river, which ran in front of the house that we visited, usually summer vacations.

Scurlock Reunion January 9-11-2009
From: Mica Danesi,

Hi, everyone!  First of all, I would like to apologize for taking so long in responding to your e-mails and phone calls.

Second, thank you so much for the Christmas cards!  I usually send them out each year, but have been totally consumed engineering this event and have had no free time.

Well, the reunion is only days away and I'm so excited! - HAIRLESS from pulling my hair out, but excited!

Friday everyone will be arriving and checking into their hotels, so we don't have any plans set for that day.  I, along with a few others, will be busy working on some projects for Saturday, therefore this day will be a free one for everyone.

Below is a list of restaurants in Eastland for Friday night.  I'm sure your hotels will have a more extensive list along with directions.

1. Chicken Express
2. Subway
3. Sonic
4. Dairy Queen
5. McDonalds
6. Taco Bell
7. Starbucks
8. Valentino's Italian Restaurant
9. Rafter H BBQ
10.Pulido's Mexican Restaurant
11. Pizza Inn
12. Cafe Rico

As for Saturday, we will meet at the museum at 10:00 for coffee and donuts and will have lunch there at 12:00.  At 1:00 we will meet infront of the courthouse for the Doc Scurlock Day events.  The courthouse is directly across the street from the museum and dinner is at 5:00 (back at the museum.)

The physical address of the museum is 112/114 S. Seaman, Eastland, TX 76448, incase you need driving directions from your hotel.  You can use google maps, mapquest, or yahoo for turn by turn directions.

Below is a link with some history about the museum.

We estimate that the cost of meals will be around $20 per person for Saturday.  This incudes a light breakfast, full lunch and dinner.  Please track me down (or my husband Roger) on Saturday to reimburse me for the cost of meals.

What I need from you guys ASAP is a list of full names of who is coming with each you as Martha Harbuck and Grace Buckbee are making name tags for everyone.  Please include the full name of the person(s) and which of Doc's children or Scurlock branch you stem from.  Also, we are setting up a scanning station for those of you who would like to bring photos or documents to share with everyone.

My cell phone number is 325-660-4924 should you have any questions.  I will be sending out another update before Friday.

My heart is beating and I can't wait for the festivities!
-Mica
P.S. This e-mail doesn't apply to everyone on the mailing list, but some wanted to be kept in the loop.
